Are you travelling on England's most overcrowded train? The Department for Transport has released new statistics revealing the most overcrowded train services during England and Wales last year.

And eight of the top 10 overcrowded services in both spring and autumn last year arrived or departed London stations. The DfT said with the exceptions of Birmingham and Liverpool, rail demand has grown at all the major cities assessed.

For the most overcrowded services in spring, five of them were Southern rail, while two of the autumn list were Southern rail services too. Six of the other most crowded services were Thameslink or Great Northern, while TransPennine Express had four trains in the two top 10s.

Blackfriars had the highest crowding level of all central London stations, while Fenchurch Street had a higher percentage of standing passengers. Almost 150,000 people were standing at trains' busiest points on arrival into central London in the three-hour morning peak.

For spring last year, the top 10 were between 58 per cent and 126 per cent over their passenger capacity, while for autumn, the top 10 were between 77 per cent and 113 per cent over their passenger capacity.

The DfT said all franchises it lets require the train operator to address crowding. "Operators must plan their timetables to ensure, as far as possible, that crowding is not unduly concentrated on any particular route or service," it said.

David Leam, infrastructure director at business group, London First, said:

There is simply not enough room on our railways for the hundreds of thousands of people who rely on a train for their daily commute.

Next month’s engineering works at Waterloo will provide a short term fix but it risks being only a sticking plaster.

The government must plan for the long term and deliver on projects like Crossrail 2, otherwise we face further delays, station closures and, for commuters lucky enough to get onto a train, they’ll be crammed in like sardines.

Comment: Why the new Rolls-Royce Phantom matters

Rolls-Royce believes its new Phantom VIII will remain the definitive example of luxury

“Phantom is the longest-running car name in history. It’s synonymous with the people who made the world turn: kings and queens, megastars, celebrities, noble people, powerful people who define history. Phantom is a thread that connects world events.”

Quite the introduction to the new model from Rolls boss Torsten Müller-Ötvös, then. Important, much? But while the new Phantom arrives at a time when luxury cars are shifting away from traditional saloons and towards SUVs, there was no way that Rolls was going to let its upcoming Project Cullinan SUV, due in 2019, be the scene-setter for the new ‘Architecture of Luxury’ that will underpin all of its future models.

*Rolls-Royce Phantom revealed as eighth-generation luxury flagship*

Müller-Ötvös considers the Phantom to be the epitome of the luxury car; the SUV is all part of diversifying the brand and appealing to the fact that “ultra-high-end net worth is getting more fragmented”. It’s offering an alternative, not a replacement, and not something that will eclipse the Phantom.

Customers don’t order a Phantom, they commission one, often spending £1 million in the process. It makes up 15% of Rolls sales “every year”, says Müller- Ötvös , adding an emphatic “always” at the end.

He says Rolls doesn’t compete with other car makers. “Do people like a Ferrari or a Rolls-Royce?” he poses. “They like both. This is a luxury business. There’s no need to offer a car for A-to-B to buyers; they have multiple cars. These are luxury goods to enjoy. They are bespoke, fulfilling dreams. Only imagination is the limit.”

Customers don’t drive one before buying one; they take Müller-Ötvös’s word for how good it will be. We saw the car in March, before any customers had seen it, but Rolls already had orders in the bank. “They trust me,” he says. “They place an order.”

It’s telling that, away from the design and engineering that has made the Phantom such a compelling luxury car, the thing that excites the Rolls boss most is that customers can commission and display art behind the Phantom’s new glass dashboard. “Art is big for our customers,” he says. “The idea was born out of a customer inviting to me to see their art. At a later stage we thought, why can’t we create the gallery concept and bring their art into the car?”

Why not indeed? Welcome to the car, then, that goes beyond being a merely a car. It’s The National Gallery on wheels.

Felt like we were making movies: Liam Cunningham on 'GoT'

Irish actor Liam Cunningham, best known to "Game of Thrones" fans as Ser Davos, says the seventh part of the show is more cinematic than the previous seasons.

Cunninghams character was first introduced in the season two of the show as the Hand (a kings closest adviser) to Stannis Baratheon. After the death of his previous master, he has become a trusted adviser of Jon Snow, who was resurrected from dead in the show thanks to Davos. He says they spent the same amount of time shooting the seven episodes this year as they did while they were doing 10 episodes and as a result the show has become more cinematic."Were shooting on locations and on huge sets that have to be built. The ambition is enormous; the vista is going to be tremendous. To the extent that if you look at the Battle of the Bastards last year, that was 24, 25 days shooting for a 20-minute sequence.

"This year weve used that kind of cinematic aspect throughout. It felt more like we were making movies than TV. Cunningham said in a release here.

The actor believes he has an important role to play with Jon Snow emerging as the new leader in the HBO drama, which is known for its jaw-dropping twists and turns.

"We left him (Davos) at the end of season six with Melisandre banished and Jon Snow his new boss almost by accident. Now, with Melisandres banishment, I think Jon realises that theres value in this guy. Whats interesting is, even though Jon is King in the North, he hasnt made Davos a Hand or anything like that. Their relationships not official," he says about his characters arc.

Cunningham says the show is finally headed for the long awaited arrival of the Nights King and his army of zombies, known to Game of Thrones fans as wights.

"I suppose one thing with this season is whereas Stannis was a dour leader, Jon is an honest, young kind of guy, which means theres a little more room for humour this year.

"But at the same time things are getting serious. Obviously, with this being the penultimate season, its ramping up. The situation with the Nights King and his cronies is coming to a head, Westeros is possibly going to be destroyed, possibly going to be ethnically cleansed," predicts Cunningham.

In India, the season seven of "Game of Thrones" airs on Star World and Star World HD every Tuesday at 11:00 PM. Reported by Deccan Herald 1 hour ago.

'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Episode 3 Review: Fire meets Snow!

$

Fire finally meets Ice and it is a thousand times better than what HBO did to announce the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere date. 'The Queen's Justice' is equal parts "When Jon Snow Met Daenerys Targaryen" and "Cersei Strikes Back".

It is very difficult to keep calm when you see that the first thing that goes down in the third episode of season seven of Game of Thrones is the banter between Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow. The Bastard of Winterfell and the Dwarf of Casterly Rock play a game of words discussing their road to the present. This marks a change in tone and pace. The wisecracks coming from Tyrion and Jon recap six seasons and will bring smiles, remembering what the characters have gone through over the years.

The dragons fly by and that brings Jon out of his "I-have-White-Walkers-To-Worry-About" mood and gives him the first reality check of life in the South.

Jon Snow walks into the court of Dragonstone and the dance of Paso Doble begins.

Missandei's introduction of Daenerys with all the titles included meets with a not-so-fitting response from Ser Davos Seaworth when he is introducing the King in the North. The funny parts end there and we are talking business. Daenerys expects Jon to bend the knee since his ancestor, Torrhen Stark, pledged his loyalty to Aegon the Conqueror. While doing so, she also asks him to not judge her by the deeds of her father. That's Jon's cue. Since he is not his father's son, literally, he is not willing to bend the knee. The back and forth of a recap over what the other one has gone through plays out like a dazzling display of the Spanish dance, with Jon and Dany alternating the role of bull and the fighter.

Jon is not looking to rule. His concern is the people standing against the Army of the Dead. But his struggle to convince the rest of the world about the bigger war to be fought when the long night comes continues. This, even with Dany who has THREE DRAGONS, has seen the power of dark forces while trying to save Khal Drogo's life in season one, she's the UNBURNT for god's sake, but sure White Walkers and the Night Kings are still a myth!

The power game gets interrupted when Varys brings the news of the Dornish army and the Greyjoy's defeat at the hands of Euron. Jon asks, "Am I your prisoner?""Not yet," Daenerys replies.

Tyrion, as always, is the smart man. He finds a middle way to get both Jon and Dany on the same page. Jon needs Dragonglass. Dany has it, but doesn't need it. So if that is offered to Jon, Dany has an ally and Jon has his weapons. Win-win for now.

The scene that follows this mediation is worth watching. I'd restrain myself from giving the details but I will say this, the tension, the chemistry and the filming of the scene deserve its own article!

While Jon is in the South, another Stark reunion takes place at Winterfell, Meera and Bran finally arrive home. Much like Jon, Bran too has difficulty explaining the concept of the Three Eyed Raven to Sansa. But boy, that guy knows how to push the wrong buttons from the beginning. Had to climb that bloody tower, and now had to bring up Sansa's wedding to Ramsay Bolton!

In the Old Town, in the latest episode of Samwell Tarly's version of Grey's Anatomy, Jorah is cured. Archmaester Marwyn appreciates Sam's method and rewards him by not suspending him from the Citadel. Glad that happened. We wouldn't want Sam to go Qyburn's way, now would we?

'The Queen's Justice,' like I said before, is about Cersei getting revenge. Euron brings the Sands and Yara to King's Landing to a hero's welcome. That maniac on the screen is good TV. Hats off to Pilou Asbaek.

Ellaria and her daughter are now Cersei's prisoners. There is a recap of episode 10 of season five when Ellaria kisses Myrcella to send her to her maker. But Cersei, with Qyburn by her side, scales new heights of evil to make the killer of her daughter suffer.

The justice spree doesn't end there. This is Khoon Bhari Mang: Cersei version for Westeros in this episode. Next up is Olenna Tyrell. But the price the Lannister siblings of King's Landing pay is a bit much. This is why the battle scene at Lannisport feels underwhelming when Grey Worm takes the Rock. What's cooking you ask? Go back to how Robb Stark bamboozled Jaime during the Battle of the Whispering Woods in season two. Casterly Rock is the price for Olenna so that Dany cannot come to rescue her.

Olenna, the queen of foreshadowing, talks about how Cersei could be the end of Jaime. Right before she reveals the name of the real murderer of Joffrey Baratheon. That will set the wheels running in Jaime's brain!

*Look out for this*

1. Jon Snow leaves no opportunity to remind viewers of his true lineage

2. Dany's line, "You better get to work, Jon Snow," will remind you of Ygritte

3. Was that a sweet nod to The Walking Dead by Tyrion?

4. A certain visitor from Bravos shall make fans in the Sherlock and Game of Thrones Venn diagram very happy.

5. Baelish, the whisperer, parts words of wisdom

6. Melisandre foreshadows Varys' death

Game of Thrones Season 7 airs in India on Star World and Star World HD every Tuesday at 11 PM.
