TWO more North Lincolnshire acts have made it through to the semi-finals of the 2013 Rock Open, making it four out of nine so far.
Winning performances from Scunthorpe's Chris Cooper Band and Hawk of Fury made heat three at the Lincoln Imp the best home run to date.
Co-promoter Adrian Cromack said: "There was a full house in for a very polished Rock Open performance from the Chris Cooper Band.
"Word is obviously spreading fast about their catchy sing-along Van Morrison-esque sound and the size of the crowd showed their recent hard work gigging around the town is paying off.
"They have a real feel-good factor sound that certainly makes it difficult for you to keep from moving.
"Finalists from two years ago, Hawk of Fury have an equally loyal following in the town and certainly didn't disappoint their followers.
"Always the showman, lead singer Matthew Pell's voice is probably the most versatile in the competition.
"Matt uses it to good effect against a backdrop of a fairly traditional heavy rock that is laced with intricate guitar solos.
"Rock Open debutants The Frantics scored a first success for Grimsby despite a few technical hitches throughout their set. But they came through pretty much unscathed.
"The Frantics certainly packed a real punch with their up-tempo set, sounding a lot of the time like Kings of Leon. Judging by the positive audience reaction, there is still mileage left in that melodic guitar sound."
North Lincolnshire's hopes of more success in the last heat at The Imp this Saturday (September 28) are pinned on newcomers The Lord Adramalech, Inquisition, Mr Smiley Cam and Iain Daniel.
But our biggest hopes lie with Lizo who finished runners-up in the 2010 Rock Open under their previous guise of 3Hour Week.
Completing the line-up at The Imp are Cortus (Grimsby) and Bear Makes Ninja (Sleaford), who are in with a good chance of going all the way after winning the Lincoln battle of the bands and heat two of last year's abandoned Scunthorpe event.
Admission is free this Saturday and the shows start at 7.30pm with DJ Kev Searby and MC Mike Linehan. Reported by This is 8 hours ago.
