This is Somerset -- Ten brass players from the Kings of Wessex Academy took part in the Music for Youth Regional Festival at Pate's Grammar School in Cheltenham. The concert began with a wide variety of performers including choirs, strings orchestras, ukuleles and brass. One of the highlights was Box of Frogs in which a trumpet, French horn and trombone gave an entertaining performance. The Cheddar Valley Music Club Senior Quartet (Sam Hanlon, Matt Hooper, Harry Bishop and Jack Harding), performed for their audience a composition called the Royal Charles Suite, composed by Harry Bishop for his A-level music. This was a highly engaging piece of music and a triumph for Harry and his fellow band members. Whilst the Cheddar Valley Music Club Junior Ensemble (Phoebe Lynch, Robert Taylor, Emily Grant, Lily Clinton, Lucy Bowkett and Ben Smith), entertained their audience with the four movements from The Night Sky as well as all three movements from Blues Band. This captivated their audience and is a great success for the ensemble. All the musicians hope to get through to the next stage in Birmingham and will definitely take part again next year. The members of the Senior Quartet and Junior Ensemble thank Brass Band Leader Anne Higgs for all her hard work in getting them up to the standard they are at now. Indeed, they would not have got this far if it were not for her.
