A TEENAGER from Kingswood got her chance to experience a job in advertising after taking up an apprenticeship.
Josie Wilson was studying media at St Brendan's Sixth Form College in Brislington but got bored with written work and decided to look for something more practical.
She had nearly given up and was considering increasing her part-time job at New Look to a full-time role, when she and her mum were walking down Kingswood high street.
They came across KTS Training based in Kings Gate House, which was advertising apprenticeship opportunities.
She told them her interest was in media and advertising and they happened to have the perfect opportunity.
Two days later Josie went for an interview at Twist and Shout Advertising & Communications based in Bristol city centre, and a week later she started her business administration Level 2 apprenticeship there.
Now one year later she has successfully completed it and is moving on to a customer service Level 3 apprenticeship.
"It has been a brilliant opportunity for me," said Josie, now 18.
"It's quite hard to find a job in media and advertising, so when I told my tutors at college that I wanted to go for this apprenticeship they told me I should do it straight away.
"I've had some great opportunities – I even have some of my own clients.
"I'm happy that I've been able to get qualifications and earn money while working in the field I was interested in." Reported by This is 10 hours ago.
