This is Kent -- THE ordeal of a 12-year-old girl who was hit by a car and then dragged under the wheels of a bus in Gravesend has been captured on CCTV. The schoolgirl, who is in a serious condition in hospital, sustained a fractured skull and broken collarbone after dashing to cross Rochester Road. In a horrifying moment captured on CCTV, the girl is seen running across traffic through a gap between parked cars. She is hit by a vehicle and thrown up in the air, before being hurled sideways into the road towards oncoming traffic. Moments later a single-decker bus drives into the CCTV picture and the girl is dragged under its wheels. Firefighters used air bags to release the young girl before she was rushed to casualty. The incident took place during the morning school run last Wednesday. Police say the girl, who cannot be named, is awake and talking, but must spend a few more weeks recovering in Kings College Hospital in London. The council is awaiting a police report on the incident. * Anyone with information is asked to call the serious collision investigation unit on 01622 798538 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. *
